Hand washing in bathrooms
I am doing an experiment to see if buying soap in containers and that are
more colorful and eye catching will attract people to wash their hands
more. One of the questions for our prompt asks what research
have you done on this.--l have talked about the different diseases and
whatnot you can gain if you dont wash your hands but is there any way to
prove that humans are more attracted to things that are colorful and eye
catching than just the plain old regular soap dispenser in schools?
The clearest evidence is on the shelves of the supermarket and
drugstore - colors are used to attract the eye to the more expensive
products and generic and store brand products are left with white or bland
packaging.
look specifically for psychology studies that focus on the
attractiveness of certain colors. There are a bunch of experiments done on
such things. They also do them on the colors envoking certain moods that
also might make them more conducive to utilizing the product.

It is called marketing. In the grocery store, items at eye
level sell more. Highest prices items are on the bottom shelf. Blue
items sell better than red ones ,etc. Color and position are very
important. Check the internet for valuable information and good luck.
i can relate to this. i'm usually pretty good about washing my
hands in the bathroom, but when i see something ''new'' that i haven't seen
before it makes me want to use it even more. my brother had this one kind
at his house that had these little ''grains'' of sand in it which made it
very interesting to wash my hands with.

I only use antibacterial hand wash. Touching all those soap
dispensers and faucets on the sink is not good. Too many germs.
